Migrating 11i to RAC with DataPump
Metro, the public transportation company in St Louis, has 24 hour integration requirements from operational and maintenance systems to Oracle Applications Supply Chain Planning and Manufacturing modules of Release 11.5.9. In order to migrate to a ?Maximum Availability Architecture? consisting of RAC and DataGuard with EMC/Dell/Linux/RedHat, the director of Data Architecture, Fred Linnenbrink, worked with consultants from TruTek to determine the best migration path from the original 10.1.0.4 single node Linux database to the new 2-node Linux RAC cluster with eight processors on each node. This case study examines the steps and issues encountered during a migration of Oracle Applications11i to a Real Applications Cluster database tier. The database size is about 100 GB.
